Given

The figure adds three bits AA, BB and CinC_{in} with two XOR gates, two AND gates and an OR gate. Fill in its truth table net by net, then read off SS and CoutC_{out} for A=1A = 1, B=0B = 0, Cin=1C_{in} = 1.

  • Inputs AA, BB, CinC_{in}, each 00 or 11
  • G1G_1, G3G_3: XOR; G2G_2, G4G_4: AND; G5G_5: OR

Read the circuit

G1G_1 and G3G_3 make the sum, G2G_2 and G4G_4 the two ways a carry starts, and G5G_5 joins them. Work each gate's output net for every row, in the order the signals flow.
Sim

The full adder in the figure

Tap a row of the truth table, or an input, to set AA, BB and CinC_{in}. Every wire carrying a 11 is inked; a 00 stays in pencil.
